Columbus Catholic girls basketball team rips Gilman

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic outscored Gilman 33-3 over the middle two quarters and blew past the Pirates 59-18 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Friday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Elizabeth Manlick had 14 of her game-high 18 points in the middle two quarters as the Dons turned a seven-point lead after one quarter into a 37-point advantage heading into the fourth. Columbus outscored the Pirates (0-12, 0-10 Cloverbelt East) 14-0 in the third quarter.

Abby Gotz added 14 points for the Dons, who won their second straight game after losing six in a row to improve to 5-8 and 4-6 in the Cloverbelt East.

Manlick added seven rebounds and three steals, and Gotz had four steals for Columbus.

The Dons host second-place Owen-Withee next Thursday.
