TOMAH – Kristin Kniech went 4-for-5, including a key two-run double in the sixth inning, to lead the Marshfield softball team to a 14-11 nonconference victory over Tomah in its season opener Thursday.

Kniech had four RBIs in the game, including the big two-RBI double in the sixth that gave the Tigers the lead for good.

Megan Gregorich added a single and a double and two RBIs for Marshfield.

Rhiannon Baierl picked up the victory on the mound for the Tigers, throwing a complete game.

Marshfield’s originally scheduled home opener on April 8 against Black River Falls has already been postponed and will be made up on May 9. The Tigers next scheduled game is April 12 at home against Wisconsin Rapids – the first of five straight home games on the schedule.
