Marshfield boys tennis team loses opener at Menomonie

MENOMONIE – The Marshfield boys tennis team won a pair of three-set matches but lost three of four singles matches and dropped a 4-3 decision to Menomonie in the Tigers’ season opener Tuesday at Menomonie High School.

Marshfield’s No. 2 doubles team of Cole VanOudenhoven and Quinn VanOudenhoven won 1-6, 7-5, 6-1, and the No. 3 doubles team of Zach Ott and Cole Wesolowski won 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, for two of the Tigers’ three wins.

The other win came from Jacob Twardowski at No. 1 singles. Twardowski beat Eric Besse 6-2, 6-1 for the Tigers’ lone singles win.

The Tigers will compete at the Eau Claire North Invitational on Saturday.
