MERRILL – Marshfield’s Michael Josephson had his best round so far in the Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament series, carding a four-over par 76 to finish in third place at Leg No. 4 of the seven-event tournament on Tuesday at Merrill Country Club.
Larry Wetzel of D.C. Everest won medalist honors with a one-under par 71. Trevor Thomas of Stevens Point was second with a 75, one shot ahead of Josephson.
Marshfield took fifth as a team with a score of 333, one shot behind Wausau West. Stevens Point was first with a 315 and Wisconsin Rapids was second with a 328.
Brandon Brown shot an 84 to tie for 13th and Evan Schneider tied for 15th with an 85 for Marshfield, which also had an 88 from Craig Serchen.
Matthew Sanquist of Wausau West tied for fourth with a 77 and moved into first place in the overall individual standings with 50.5 points, one ahead of Thomas. Josephson’s high finish moves him into eighth.
