WAUSAU – Marshfield’s No. 3 doubles team of John Weiss and Jack Haessly won the WIAA Division 1 subsectional title Tuesday at Wausau East High School.
The pair were the only Tigers to advance to Wednesday’s Division 1 sectional, to be held at the Boson Courts in Marshfield.
Weiss and Haessly advanced to the finals to improve to 10-4 on the season and were one of two No. 3 doubles teams to advance.
No match scores were provided on the WIAA website.
The rest of the Marshfield team was eliminated from postseason competition.
Weiss and Haessly will be competing strictly for team points at the sectionals as only players in the top two flights in singles and doubles qualify for the WIAA State Boys Tennis Tournament, which will be held June 2-4 in Madison. The top team advances to the WIAA State Boys Team Tennis Tournament in Madison on June 10-11.
