WAUSAU – All of the Marshfield boys track and field athletes that qualified for Thursday’s WIAA Division 1 Sectional at Wausau East did one better, qualifying for next week’s state meet.

Jeremy Robinson won the 200 meters (22.23 seconds) and the triple jump (46 feet, 3 inches) and will lead a strong Marshfield contingent into the WIAA State Track and Field Championships next Friday and Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Five Marshfield boys will represent the team in nine events at the state meet.

Robinson also anchored the sectional champion 400 relay team that includes Logan Schmitz, Riley Gebelein and Keron Howlett. The relay won in 43.37 seconds.

The same four combined to take second in the 800 relay in 1:29.39, just 0.13 seconds behind Hudson.

The top three finishers in each event automatically qualify for the state meet.

Gebelein and Howlett, along with Dan Kniech, also qualified in individual events for the Tigers.

Howlett won the long jump (22-2) and took third in the 110 hurdles (15.22); Gebelein won the 100 (11.24) by just 1/100 of a second over Corey Griffin of D.C. Everest; and Kniech was the sectional champion in the 110 hurdles (14.86) and took third in the 300 hurdles (40.33).

One individual and one relay team for Marshfield qualified for state.

Gabriella Myrie finished third in the 100 (12.71) and the 800 relay team of Alexa Fritsch, Myrie, Nikki Youngblood and Bisola Omoba took second in 1:46.93.

The other Marshfield girls competing at the sectional meet were not as fortunate.

Amanda Cousins finished eighth in the 400, Rebecca Voss was seventh in the 3,200, the 400 relay team of Fritsch, Youngblood, Myrie and Omoba was sixth, the 1,600 relay team of Fritsch, Cousins, Omoba and Youngblood was eighth and Yasmeena Ougayour finished sixth in the discus.

Hudson won the girls sectional team title, while D.C. Everest edged Hudson by ½ point to win the boys championship.
