WAUSAU – Marshfield junior Michael Josephson shot a 93 to finish in a tie for 38th place at the WIAA Division 1 Boys Golf Sectional on Tuesday at Greenwood Hills Country Club.

Nate Webb of Eau Claire Memorial shot a 78 to win medalist honors and earn one of the three individual qualifier spots at next week’s WIAA State Boys Golf Championships at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona. The tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday.

Matt Grayes of Hudson shot a 79 to finish second and led the Raiders to the team title with a score of 323. Superior was second with a 336 to earn the other team spot in the state tournament.

The other individual spots – reserved for the top three finishers not on those two qualifying teams – went to Austin Byrd of Chippewa Falls and Larry Wetzel of D.C. Everest, who each shot 80.

Josephson was the lone Marshfield golfer in the meet after finishing fifth at last week’s regional at Merrill, when he shot a 79.
