Champions crowned in four divisions at annual Marshfield Tennis Association Doubles Tournament

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Tennis Association hosted its annual Marshfield Doubles Tournament on Saturday, June 25, at the Boson Courts.

A total of 34 players competed on 23 doubles teams in four divisions at the tournament.

Champions in each men’s and women’s division were awarded with hats or T-shirts, and the top three mixed division finishers were awarded gold, silver or bronze key chains. All champions received free entry into next year’s tournament.

The Men’s A champion was the team of Ryan Coleman and John Coleman, who defeated Grant Reckner and Scott Sikora 6-3, 7-5, in the finals. Garry Koehler and Tom Duncan beat Dave Droste and Kurt Hendrickson 6-2, 6-3, to win the consolation bracket.

In the Men’s B division, Doug Reckner and Pat Wesolowski won a round-robin, winning both of its matches in straight sets.

Holly Reckner and Renee Wesoloski won the Women’s Division, besting four other teams for the title. They beat Megan Hayes and Amy Ott 6-3, 6-4, in the championship match. Lynette Pupp and Jill Meilhan defeated Erin Ott and Taylor Hardinger 6-0, 6-2, to win the consolation bracket.

Garry Koehler and Teresa Hahn beat Maria Anderson and Scott Sikora 6-3, 6-2, to win the Mixed Doubles division. Holly Reckner and Doug Reckner beat Renee Wesolowski and Pat Wesolowski 6-3, 6-4, in the consolation final.

The Marshfield Open Tennis Tournament will be held July 23-24, with competition in singles and doubles for all ages and abilities.
