Appleton Legends pound Marshfield Chaparrals

APPLETON – The Marshfield Chaparrals dropped its second straight game, a 13-5 decision to the Appleton Legends on Tuesday at Nienhaus Field in Appleton.

Appleton scored eight runs between the third and fifth innings to pull out to a 9-0 lead.

Marshfield responded with three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth, only to see Appleton put the game away with a four-run bottom of the eighth inning.

Ryan Metz took the loss, giving up six runs (four earned) and 10 hits in four innings pitched.

Sam Schwanebeck had two hits and three RBIs and Eric Pritzl added a pair of singles for the Chaparrals (9-4).

Marshfield hosts Abbotsford on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field.
