WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Joe Benbow scored in the 92nd minute for the game’s only goal, leading Wisconsin Rapids to a 1-0 win over Marshfield in the Wisconsin Valley Conference boys soccer opener for both teams.

Marshfield’s Erik Holm had seven saves and Kevin Baneck had six saves for Rapids as the two goalies dominated the game.

Marshfield coach Ron Todryk said Baneck came up with some huge saves on a few great scoring opportunities for the Tigers in the first overtime.

The Tigers have not scored a goal in their first three games of the season, but Todryk said he is seeing improvement and is certain things will turn around soon.

“We are getting our offense worked out and getting better shots on goal,” Todryk said. “We’re progressing and getting better every game. The progress we have made has been fantastic in our first three games, so hopefully we keep it going.”

Marshfield hosts Wausau West on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Griese Park.
