RIB MOUNTAIN – The Spencer girls took ninth place and the boys team was 10th at the Mosinee Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Nine Mile Forest.
Danny Schubert led the Spencer boys team with a 26th-place finish in 19 minutes, 52 seconds. Teamate Rudy Nieman was 31st in 20:29.
Marquis Johnson of Lakeland won the race with a time of 17:10.5, 34 seconds ahead of teammate Michael Orlowski.
Rhinelander won the boys team title with three top-10 finishes.
Colby/Abbotsford had three runners finish in the top five to win the girls team title.
Paige Peschel of Westfield ran away with the girls race, finishing in 14:58.5, 1 minute and 52 seconds ahead of Colby/Abby’s Jenny Meacham.
Samantha Fuehrer was 24th in 18:27 and Paige Lawrence finished 32nd in 19:08 to lead Spencer.
Spencer will compete in the Marshfield Invitational at Wildwood Park on Sept. 6.
