Marshfield volleyball sweeps three matches at WVC tournament

MERRILL – The Marshfield volleyball team swept three matches Saturday at the first Wisconsin Valley Conference tournament of the season at Merrill High School.

The Tigers whipped Wisconsin Rapids 25-11, 25-13, 25-12; Wausau West 25-18, 25-23, 25-20; and D.C. Everest 25-21, 25-12, 25-20 to improve to 4-1 in the conference.

“We went and accomplished exactly what we wanted to do today,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “This was a total team effort, and I am proud of the girls for finishing each match in three sets.”

Tiffany Stargardt had 41 kills, 44 digs and five service aces for the Tigers. Mikala Sebastian added 32 kills and 11 blocks, Darian Molter had a team-high 46 digs, Tori Nanstad had five aces and Mary Wolff had 61 assists for Marshfield.

Marshfield (20-6 overall) hosts Merrill on Thursday.
