Troy Mengel scores 31 points to lead Stratford boys basketball past Stevens Point Pacelli

STRATFORD – Troy Mengel dominated inside, scoring 31 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead the Stratford boys basketball team to a 66-62 nonconference win over Stevens Point Pacelli in the season opener for both teams Monday night at Stratford High School.

Mengel made 12 of 15 shots from the floor and all seven of his free-throw attempts to lead the Tigers before fouling out late.

Derek Austin added 15 points, had four rebounds, four steals and three assists, and Travis Urlaub added six points and five rebounds for Stratford.

Stratford hosts Phillips in a nonconference game Thursday.
