Auburndale girls basketball rolls past Greenwood in opener

GREENWOOD – The Auburndale girls basketball team opened its season with new coach Liz Nagel by posting a 44-28 nonconference win over Greenwood on Tuesday night at Greenwood High School.

Emma Steines scored 18 points and Sam Karl added 10 for Auburndale. Brianna Meyer had a team-high seven rebounds.

Steines hit four 3-pointers in the first half, including two in the first quarter as the Apaches built an 18-2 lead. Auburndale pushed the lead to 30-10 by halftime. Karl scored eight of her 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Auburndale hosts Colby in its home opener Friday.
