Wisconsin Rapids uses four goals in third period to blow past Marshfield boys hockey

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids scored four times in the third period to pull away from Marshfield for a 6-1 win in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey game Thursday night at the South Wood County Ice Center.

Marshfield cut an early 2-0 lead by Rapids in half with a goal by Schuyler Seyfert at the 5:23 mark of the second period, but couldn’t manage another shot past Raiders goalie Cole Paulsen, who had 25 saves.

Rapids put the game away with four goals in the third period, three by Zach Campbell who finished with four in all. He also added an assist. Caleb Schroer assisted on all four Raiders goals in the third period.

Mac Alboreo had 32 saves for the Tigers, who fall to 4-3 and 0-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Marshfield hosts Stevens Point on Tuesday.
