Marshfield wrestlers take fourth at Battle on the Fox in Kimberly

KIMBERLY – The Marshfield wrestling team finished 3-2 and took fourth place at the Battle on the Fox Duals at Kimberly High School on Saturday.

Marshfield defeated Freedom Varsity Reserve 61-18, Ashwaubenon 43-29 and Kimberly 34-31 before losing its final two matches to Freedom 58-13 in its final round robin dual and to Little Chute 42-37 in the third-place match.

Marshfield senior Justin Sternweis improved to 16-0 with five victories at 182 pounds. Sternweis won all five matches by pin, including three in the first period.

Austin Mahoney went 3-2 at 160 pounds to fall to 14-2 on the season for the Tigers.

Mitch Hertel also was perfect for Marshfield, going 5-0 at 132 pounds. He won two matches by pin, won by technical fall and another by forfeit.

Freedom beat Sussex Hamilton 54-11 in the championship dual.

Marshfield is back in action Dec. 29-30 at the Bi-State Tournament in La Crosse.
