Stevens Point pulls away in fourth to top Marshfield JV boys basketball

STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point outscored Marshfield 21-8 in the fourth quarter to pull away and defeat the Tigers 57-39 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference JV boys basketball game Friday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

The Tigers led 18-12 after one quarter only to see SPASH take a 28-25 lead at halftime. Still within striking distance down five points heading into the fourth, Marshfield couldn’t keep up in falling to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the WVC.

Craig Serchen scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Tigers. He made 9 of 13 shots from the field while the rest of the Tigers went 8-for-26. Marshfield also made just 4 of 9 free throws.

Marshfield hosts Wausau West at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
