WILD ROSE – Hannah Schmitt scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead to the Stratford girls basketball team to a 50-42 nonconference win over Wild Rose on Friday night at Wild Rose High School.
The Tigers improve to 7-1 while handing Wild Rose (5-1) its first loss of the season.
Stratford trailed 18-17 at halftime but rallied by outscoring the Wildcats 33-24 in the second half.
Sara Griesbach added nine points and Brooke Schultze and Carrie Stroetz each added eight for the Tigers.
Stratford won the Almond-Bancroft Tournament earlier in the week, beating Stratford 33-19 on Tuesday and Princeton 47-16 on Wednesday to take the title.
In the win over Manawa, Schultze scored 13 points and Stroetz had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Schmitt scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds in the Tigers’ victory over Princeton. Griesbach added 12 points and Schultze had 11 points and five rebounds.
Stratford is off until Jan. 10 when its hosts Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood Conference South Division game.
