Stratford boys basketball crushes Northland Lutheran

STRATFORD – Derek Austin scored 17 points to lead three Stratford players in double figures as the Tigers blasted Northland Lutheran 57-27 in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Tuesday night at Stratford High School.

The Tigers improve to 13-3 and 9-1 in the Marawood South, keeping pace one game behind first-place Auburndale in the standings. Northland Lutheran drops to 2-13 and 0-10 in the conference.

Austin made 8 of 17 shots from the field, grabbed five rebounds and had four steals to lead the Tigers. Travis Urlaub added 13 points and Nolan Bargender had 11 as both made 5 of 7 shots from the field for Stratford.

Stratford jumped out to a 17-2 lead after the first quarter and led 32-9 by halftime, making quick work of the Wildcats.

Stratford plays at Edgar on Friday.
