Taylor Varsho scores 26 points in Marshfield girls basketball team’s win over Rhinelander

RHINELANDER – Taylor Varsho poured in 26 points to lead the Marshfield girls basketball team to a 58-40 win over Rhinelander on Tuesday night at Rhinelander High School.

Varsho made 11 of 20 shots from the field, including three 3-pointers, and grabbed six rebounds to pace the Tigers (16-4) to their fifth straight win.

Caitlin Michaelis added 10 points and three steals and Courtney Bauer had five points and a team-high eight rebounds for Marshfield.

The Tigers forced 27 turnovers and held Rhinelander to 36 percent shooting (13 of 36).

Brianna Jorgensen led Rhinelander with 16 points.

Marshfield plays at Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday and wraps up its regular season with a Wisconsin Valley Conference game at home against Merrill on March 1.
