Marshfield JV boys basketball team ends season with pair of losses

The Marshfield JV boys basketball team dropped its final two games of the season last week to finish 2011-12 with a 12-10 record.

The Tigers lost at home to Rhinelander 57-43 on Feb. 21 and fell at Wisconsin Rapids 36-33 on Feb. 24.

Nine different Marshfield players scored in the loss to Rhinelander, which saw the Tigers fall behind 9-2 after the first quarter.

Marshfield shot just 37 percent (19 of 52) from the field, 3 of 15 from the 3-point line and 2 of 8 from the free throw line in the loss.

Caleb Alexander and Craig Serchen each scored seven points for Marshifeld.

Against Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield trailed 32-21 entering the fourth quarter and outscoring the Raiders by eight but came up three points short.

Marshfield again struggled shooting the ball, making just 13 of 45 shots and of 15 from 3-point range.

Serchen had eight points in the loss.
