Marshfield baseball splits doubleheader at Chippewa Falls

CHIPPEWA FALLS – Tanner Dennis-Brown tossed six innings, striking out four, to lead the Marshfield baseball team to a 5-1 win in the first game of a nonconference doubleheader against Chippewa Falls on Saturday.

Daulton Varsho and Nick Treankler each went 2-for-4 and Elliot Ashbeck was 2-for-3 for the Tigers, who won their seventh straight game.

Marshfield’s win streak came to an end in the nightcap, however, as Chippewa Falls pounded the Tigers 10-5.

Marshfield (7-3) returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference action Tuesday with a game at Wausau West. The Tigers host D.C. Everest on Thursday and Menomonie for a nonconference doubleheader on April 28 before hitting the road for a stretch of seven straight road games from May 1-17. The Tigers finish the season with five home games in a row.
