Marshfield graduate Andie Varsho shines for Purdue softball

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Andie Varsho, a 2010 graduate of Marshfield High School, is having a stellar sophomore season for the Purdue University.

Varsho, who has started all 47 games this season for the Boilermakers, is hitting .360 with a team-high 58 hits in 161 at-bats. She has seven doubles, 29 RBIs, 34 runs scored and 16 stolen bases for Purdue, which improved to 30-17 and 12-5 in the Big Ten after winning two of three games over Wisconsin this past weekend.

Varsho went 2-for-7 with a double and an RBI in Saturday’s doubleheader, which Purdue split with the Badgers, winning 7-2 and losing 7-1. She had an RBI in Sunday’s 6-5 win.

Purdue is tied for second place with Nebraska, one-half game behind Michigan, with six Big Ten games remaining.

The Boilermakers play a three-game series at Minnesota on May 5-6 and another at Michigan on May 11-12 to close out the regular season.
