D.C. Everest topples Marshfield baseball, knocks Tigers out of first place

WESTON – The Marshfield baseball team’s time at the top of the Wisconsin Valley Conference standings was short-lived as it dropped a 4-1 decision to D.C. Everest on Thursday at D.C. Everest High School.

The Tigers fall to 13-8 overall and 8-2 in the WVC, one-half game behind Stevens Point (15-5, 9-2 WVC), which beat Wausau East on Thursday. Everest improves to 13-5 and 6-4 in the Valley.

Marshfield hosts the Marshfield Invitational this weekend, with games against Appleton West on Friday and Holmen and Janesville Craig on Saturday. The Tigers battle Stevens Point on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field with first place on the line.
