Marshfield Chaparrals scores four in ninth to beat Everest Merchants

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Chaparrals defeated the Everest Merchants for the second time in less than a week, edging out a 10-9 win in their home opener Wednesday night at Jack Hackman Field.

The Chaparrals (4-1) trailed 9-5 before rallying, scoring once in the eighth and four times in the bottom of the ninth to grab the victory. John Safford delivered the game-winning RBI single in the ninth.

Bobby Gregorich led the way for Marshfield, going 3-for-6 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored. Chuck Brehm added a double and three RBIs for the Chaps.

Marshfield returns to action with home games Friday against Tilden at 7:30 p.m., Saturday against Spooner at noon, and Sunday against Coon Valley at noon. All three games will be played at Jack Hackman Field as part of DairyFest weekend in Marshfield.
