Marshfield moved its way through the brackets by beating DeForest 25-20, 20-25, 15-4; Greendale 25-19, 27-25; and Manitowoc 25-18, 16-25, 15-11 to reach the championship match.

Courtney Bauer added 17 kills and 55 assists, Chlesea Akin had 16 kills and five aces, Tori Nanstad added 41 assists, and Darian Molter tied Stargardt for the team lead in digs with 48 for the Tigers.

“I am extremely proud of how well we did in this tournament,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska. “This is our best finish we’ve ever had at Sun Prairie. It’s a very competitive tournament and we faced a lot of really good teams. We certainly have more that we can work on, but we improved in many areas of our game over the two days.”

Marshfield opens its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule Thursday at Wausau West.
