Marshfield volleyball whips Wausau West in Wisconsin Valley Conference opener

WAUSAU – The Marshfield volleyball team opened its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule with a 3-0 sweep of Wausau West on Thursday night at Wausau West High School.

The Tigers won 25-17, 25-14, 25-14, to improve to 12-4 overall this season.

Tiffany Stargardt had 11 kills and Mikala Sebastian added 10 in a balanced attack for Marshfield.

Darian Molter had 12 digs, Chelsea Akin added 11 and Sebastian had six block kills to lead the Marshfield defense.

Setters Tori Nanstad had 17 assists and Courtney Bauer chipped in with 12.

Marshfield hosts Superior, Altoona, Medford, Rhinelander and Wauwatosa West for the Marshfield Invitational on Saturday. The Tigers return to WVC action Sept. 6 at home against Wisconsin Rapids.
