UW-Marshfield volleyball team wraps up regular season with win over UW-Marathon County

MARSHFIELD The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County volleyball team continued its late-season hot streak, finishing the regular season with a n 8-2 record after a 3-1 nonconference win over UW-Marathon County on Wednesday night.

The Marauders lost the first set 25-16 but came back to take the next three games 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 to wrap up the schedule on a high note.

Second-year players Kimberly Masephol and Lindsay Gotz were recognized before the game for their contributions to the program, and the Marauders’ co-captains helped the team to a victory. Masephol had 20 assists and five service aces, while Gotz had 11 kills and four aces.

The volleyball team presented Marshfield Clinic development officer Pete Schmeling with a check for $426 in support of breast cancer research. The money was raised recently at the team’s annual Play 4 Pink Event.

UW-Marshfield, co-champions of the West Division of the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference, will play in the WCC Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Just-A-Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells.
