Marshfield curling teams finish season at Wisconsin State High School Curling Championships in Wausau

WAUSAU – The Marshfield curling teams participated in the Wisconsin State High School Curling Championships at the Wausau Curling Club on Friday and Saturday.

The Marshfield girls ended up third, losing in the state semifinals on Saturday.

In pool play, Marshfield I went a perfect 4-0 to reach the semifinals. On Friday, the Tigers team of Kailey Pritzel (lead), Erica Ede (second), Maria Brix (third) and Jillian Behling (skip) defeated Wausau West II 12-1, D.C. Everest 8-5 and Stevens Point I 9-6. They completed pool play Saturday with a 10-6 win over Wausau East II.

In the semifinals, Marshfield lost 12-5 to Portage I.

The Marshfield I boys team finished 1-2. The Tigers team of Hunter Welch (lead), Brandon Fahey (second), Jacob Ferch (third) and Luke Behling (skip) lost to Pardeeville 7-6 and Waupaca 8-7 on Friday, before beating No. 1 seed Poynette 9-6 on Saturday.

The Marshfield II girls team of Shawna O’Brien (lead), Neehal Shulka and Mariah Luedtke (second), Cassie Strege (third) and Mckenna Schultz (skip) finished 0-3 in pool play. Marshfield lost to Medford I 14-1, Poynette 7-6, and Wausau East I 8-7.
