PORT EDWARDS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team stormed back in the fourth quarter to force overtime but ran out of gas and lost to Port Edwards 52-43 in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal at Port Edwards High School.

The Blackhawks led 35-27 after the third quarter before Columbus stormed back behind Liz Manlick, Kayla Selz and Hannah Stratman to tie the game at 42-42 and force overtime.

Manlick scored six points, including a 3-pointer, and Selz and Stratman each had four points in the 15-7 run in the fourth for the Dons.

In the overtime, Port Edwards held the Dons (10-13) without a field goal and outscored Columbus 10-1.

Jordyn Kohlbeck had eight of the Blackhawks’ 10 points, making four of six shots from the free throw line. She finished with a game-high 19 points. Nicole Marshall and Lexi Schroeder each added 10 points for Port Edwards.

Manlick topped the Dons with 16 points – 12 in the second half and overtime – and Stratman had 10. Manlick was one of four on free throws in overtime, accounting for Columbus’ only point.

Port Edwards (17-6) moves on to a Division 5 regional semifinal at home against Loyal (15-8) on Friday at 7 p.m.
