Howlett leads Marshfield to fifth place at 2013 Point Boys Track Invitational

STEVENS POINT – Keiron Howelett won the long jump and had two other finishes in the top five to lift the Marshfield boys track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the 2013 Point Boys Track Invitational on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Howlett won the long jump with a leap of 22-3, finished fourth in the triple jump (41-6) and was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.09 seconds) for the Tigers, who finished fifth in the team standings with 45 points.

Appleton North won the team title with 89.5 points, with second-place Kimberly finishing with 56 points.

Marshfield had six other top-eight finishes on the day, led by Jacob Bauer, who took second in the high jump (6-4).

Brad Krueger tied for fourth in the pole vault (11-6), Nolan Redetzke was fourth in the 3,200 meters (10:21.16), the 800 relay team was fourth (1:36.63), Ryan Treierweiler took sixth in the long jump (20-2.5) and Derek Coffren finished eighth in the 400 (54.00).

Marshfield hosts its annual Tigers Boys Track Indoor Invitational on Tuesday at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse.
