Marshfield graduate Elliot Ashbeck begins freshman season on Bradley University baseball team

PEORIA, Ill. – Elliot Ashbeck, a 2012 graduate of Marshfield High School, has begun his freshman season as a member of the Bradley University baseball team.

Ashbeck had appeared in six games out of the bullpen for the Braves, tossing 10 1/3 innings. He has a 3.48 earned run average, allowing five runs (four earned), while striking out eight and walking six and giving up an opponents’ batting average against of .220.

Ashbeck struck out in his only at-bat this season.

Bradley is off to an 8-9 start following two trips to Nashville, Tenn., and others to Arkansas State, Las Vegas and Dayton.

Last weekend, Bradley swept three games in Nashville, beating Lipscomb twice and Belmont. Ashbeck pitched a shutout inning to close out the Braves’ 7-0 win over Lipscomb on March 15.

Bradley travels to Florida this week and starts a four-game trip with a game against Washington & Jefferson College in Auburndale, Fla., on Wednesday. The Braves then play a three-game series against Dartmouth from Thursday through Saturday.
