UW-Marshfield Wood County tennis team opens season with split against UW-Baraboo

MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County tennis team finally got its season started Thursday with meets against UW-Baraboo.

The Marauders women won 7-1, while the men’s team lost 9-1.

Winners for the UW-Marshfield women were Nikki Hertel at No. 1 singles, Kelsey Fierke at No. 3 singles, Bekah Wood at No. 4 singles, Emma Easterly at No. 5 singles, Amanda Wolfe at No. 6 singles, the No. 1 doubles team of Hertel and Abby Gotz, and the NO. 2 doubles team of Fierke and Easterly.

Winning for the Marshfield men was Tim Resheske at No. 5 singles.

Marshfield hosts its annual invitational on Saturday at Marshfield High School and the UW-Marshfield courts.
