MARSHFIELD – Matt McCann and Matt DeGrand each scored a pair of goals to lead the Marshfield boys soccer team to a 6-0 shutout of Tomah in a nonconference game Wednesday at Griese Park.

Marshfield evened its record at 2-2 with the win.

Jake Limmex scored just 3:14 into the game to give Marshfield the early lead and it all went right after that for the Tigers.

McCann and DeGrand each added a goal before halftime, then scored again in the first 10 minutes of the second half to make it 5-0.

Alex Sainterme scored the Tigers’ final goal with 5:39 left.

Matt Brown had 12 saves and earned his first shutout of the season in goal for Marshfield.

“We’re still not placing the ball that well,” Marshfield coach Ron Todryk. We’re hitting some balls right to the keeper or shooting too early. The passing was a lot better than it was last night (in a 1-0 loss to Wausau West on Tuesday).”

Marshfield returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference action Thursday at Wausau East.
