Marshfield JV2 football team opens season with win over Wisconsin Rapids

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield JV2 football team, made up of freshmen and sophomores, won its season opener Thursday 20-14 over Wisconsin Rapids at Marshfield High School.

Jared Klein tossed a 7-yard touchdown pass to Derek Michalski with 10 seconds remaining to lift Marshfield to the victory.

Braden Bohman had touchdown runs of 42 and 70 yards, and ran for a two-point conversion for the Tigers.

Sawyer Lovstad, Austin Goode and Mike Damrau led Marshfield in tackles. Goode added an interception and John Roherty recovered a fumble for the Tigers.

Marshfield plays again on Sept. 5 at Ben Franklin Junior High in Stevens Point at 4:30 p.m.
