MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield volleyball team kicked off the postseason with a dominating 25-18, 25-15, 25-9 sweep of Rhinelander in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Thursday at Marshfield High School.
Marshfield hosts Merrill in a regional final Saturday at 7 p.m. at Marshfield High School.
Courtney Bauer had 12 kills and three service aces, and Lauren Gilbertson and Ellie Fehrenbach each had five kills for the Tigers.
“We had a little bit of a slow start tonight, but once we started blocking and serving better, we were able to take control of the match,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “We will have to increase our intensity Saturday night, but we are one match closer to our goal of the state tournament.”
Setters Anna Ripp and Sara Dasler had 11 and 10 assists, respectively, for Marshfield. Darian Molter added 15 digs and four aces.
