Auburndale boys basketball crushes Weyauwega-Fremont

AUBURDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball team wasted little time to take care of Weyauwega-Fremont.

The Apaches outscored W-F 17-0 in the first quarter and went on to a 58-18 rout of the Indians on Friday in a semifinal game of the Auburndale Holiday Tournament at Auburndale High School.

In the other semifinal, Waupaca defeated Chetek 64-61. Auburndale will play Waupaca in the championship game at 7:45 p.m. Saturday. Chetek plays Weyauwega-Fremont at 6 p.m. in the consolation game.

Zach Staats lead Auburndale (7-0) with 15 points. Josh VanShoick added nine points and eight rebounds and Blake Anderson and Matt Lang each chipped in with eight points.

Auburndale pushed its lead to 31-7 by halftime and were up 50-11 after three quarters.
