Black River Falls edges Marshfield girls hockey

MARSHFIELD – Kacie Suchanek scored twice and it proved to be enough as Black River Falls edged Marshfield 2-1 in a nonconference girls hockey game Friday at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Arena.

Suchanek scored at the 7:21 mark of the first period and with 2:19 left in the second to put Black River Falls up 2-0.

Kaylee Geiger scored for Marshfield (1-6) off an assist from Kessa Schreiner in the third period but the Tigers couldn’t get another one across to tie it.

Alexis Straughan saves 21 shots for Marshfield, while Miranda Jesse saved 26 of 27 shots on goal for Black River Falls (3-8).

Marshfield’s next game is Jan. 3 at Waupaca.
