Taylor Varsho named to coaches’ all-state team

MADISON – Marshfield High School guard Taylor Varsho was the lone sophomore selected to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Division 1 all-state girls basketball team, which was released Thursday at the WIAA State Girls Basketball Tournament in Madison.

Varsho, a first-team all-Wisconsin Valley Conference selection, scored 19.1 points a game and set a new school record with 64 3-pointers this season as the Tigers finished 21-3 overall and a perfect 12-0 in the conference.

Milwaukee Vincent senior Nicole Griffin, who will be playing collegiately at the University of Oklahoma, was the only unanimous first-team selection on the 11-person first team.

Wausau West’s Jessica Waldvogel, the WVC player of the year, alson was named to the first team after leading the Warirors to a state tournament berth while averaging 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals per game.
