Spencer girls basketball beats Pittsville by one, ends four-game losing skid

PITTSVILLE – The Spencer girls basketball team ended a four-game losing streak with a 36-35 win over Pittsville in the regular-season finale for both teams Thursday at Pittsville High School.

The Rockets improve to 6-16, while Pittsville ends its regular season with a 5-16 record.

Spencer trailed heading into the fourth quarter before outscoring the Panthers 14-9 over the final 8 minutes.

Brooke Kettleborough scored 10 points, and had six rebounds and four steals for the Rockets.

Sarah Schmitz scored 21 points for Pittsville.

Spencer will play at Stratford in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday.
