Spencer softball cruises past Columbus Catholic

SPENCER – Spencer pound the ball early and often, rolling to a 14-0 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball opener for both teams Friday at Spencer High School.

Spencer plated four runs in the first inning, three more in the second and six in the third to cruise to the win.

Spencer pitchers Macie Weber and Tynae Phillips combined for nine strikeouts and allowed just one hit – a single by Narin Jeong.

Weber added three hits, including two doubles, and Brooke Kettleborough had two RBIs for the Rockets (1-1).

Spencer plays at Augusta on Monday and Columbus is scheduled to play at home against Neillsville on Tuesday.
