Marshfield seventh grade boys basketball takes 27th at state tournament

LA CROSSE – The Marshfield seventh grade boys basketball team participated in the Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament on March 29-30, finishing in 27th place.

The tournament, organized by The Great Northwest Basketball League, had 94 teams in the seventh grade division. Marshfield participated in Division 1 out of the four divisions.

Marshfield defeated Appleton North 35-33, and lost to Appleton West 52-48 and Green Bay Preble 51-38 in pool play. The Tigers were then placed in the 25th-30th place bracket and went 1-1, losing to Germantown 54-32 and defeating Eau Claire Memorial 34-14.

In the 27th-place game, Marshfield defeated Chippewa Falls 37-31.

Marshfield was coached by Jay Bennett and assistants Mike Voss and Mike Olson.

Brookfield Central (Division 1), Marinette (Division 2), Little Chute (Division 3) and Howards Grove (Division 4/5) won team titles.
