Marshfield baseball splits doubleheader at Chippewa Falls

CHIPPEWA FALLS – The Marshfield baseball team suffered its first loss of the season after splitting a nonconference doubleheader with Chippewa Falls on Saturday.

Marshfield won the first game 6-2 before dropping the second 7-3.

Sam Klein hit a grand slam in the second inning to propel the Tigers (6-1) to the victory in Game 1.

Caleb Alexander was 3-for-4 and Jack Donahue tossed five innings to earn the win for Marshfield. Donahue is now 3-0 this season.

In the second game, Luke Zuiker allowed three runs in five innings to suffer the loss. Daulton Varsho had a pair of hits for the Tigers.

Marshfield is scheduled to host Merrill at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Jack Hackman Field.
