Everest Merchants rally to beat Marshfield Chaparrals in ninth inning

WESTON – The Marshfield Chaparrals couldn’t hold on to a one-run lead, giving up two runs in the bottom of the ninth to drop a 11-10 decision to the Everest Merchants in amateur baseball action Wednesday at Simon Field.

Marshfield trailed 9-7 before scoring three times in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead.

Aaron Schwecke struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings for the Chaparrals (0-3). Kyle Rogers took the loss, walking six in two innings.

Ryan Hiller and Rayme Strey each had three hits for Marshfield.

The Chaparrals’ home opener is Friday against Tilden. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field.
