Marshfield baseball shuts out Wisconsin Rapids

MARSHFIELD – Colton Zahradka threw a complete-game shutout and Marshfield scored the game’s only run in the first inning, beating Wisconsin Rapids 1-0 in its Wisconsin Valley Conference finale Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.

Zahradka struck out four and walked two, scattering four hits, to earn the win for the Tigers (11-12 overall, 5-7 Wisconsin Valley Conference). Wisconsin Rapids is now 8-10 and finish in a tie with Marshfield at 5-7 in the Valley.

With two outs in the first inning, Caleb Alexander and Jack Donahue had back-to-back doubles to plate the game’s only run for Marshfield.

Marshfield closes out its regular-season schedule Saturday with a nonconference doubleheader at New Richmond. The Tigers host Rice Lake in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
