Eau Claire Cavaliers shut down Marshfield Chaparrals

EAU CLAIRE – A pair of Eau Claire pitchers held Marshfield to just four hits and the Chaparrals suffered a 3-1 loss on Tuesday in an amateur baseball game at Carson Park.

James Holub tossed eight strong innings, giving up just four hits and striking out 12, and Grant Peikert pitched a scoreless ninth to give the Cavaliers (22-21) the victory.

Kyle Rogers had two of Marshfield’s four hits and Rayme Strey had an RBI double to account for the Chaparrals’ (9-12) only run.

Eric Pritzl struck out two and walked two in a complete-game effort for Marshfield.

The Chaparrals host the Everest Merchants at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jack Hackman Field.
