Columbus Catholic soccer shuts out Tri-County, remains in first place

PLAINFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team got three goals from Ryan Dieringer and shutout Tri-County 5-0 on Monday.

The Dons continue in first place in the Mid-State Soccer Conference, improving to 6-1-1 (8-2-3 overall). Tri-County is now 1-7 and 1-5 in the conference.

Columbus Catholic outshot Tri-County 31-15, including 18-11 on goal.

Evan Hansen stepped up with 11 saves for the Dons.

Sean McCarthy added a goal and two assists, Will Atkinson scored and had an assist, and Charles Payant added an assist for Columbus Catholic.

The Dons host Wisconsin Valley Lutheran in a Mid-State game at 5 p.m. Thursday at Griese Park.
