Spencer volleyball fights past Colby, now 5-0 in Cloverbelt East

SPENCER – The Spencer volleyball team remained undefeated in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division with a 3-1 victory over Colby on Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets lost their first game of the season in the Cloverbelt, but were able to pull away winning 28-26, 24-26, 25-14, 25-20, to move to 5-0 in the Cloverbelt East.

Greenwood and Neillsville, both 4-0, played each other on Tuesday. Spencer plays at Neillsville on Thursday.

Macie Weber had 22 kills and four blocks, Abby Varsho had 10 kills and six blocks, and Brooke Kettleborough had 44 assists for the Rockets.

Jenna Schober had 38 digs, Courtney Buss 35 and Julia Berres 21 to lead Spencer defensively.

“We really had to dig deep with a new lineup,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “A few new faces really stepped up for us. Brooke Kettleborough showed her leadership all night.”
