Marshfield’s Molly Field wins WIAA girls golf regional title, Tigers advance to sectional by taking fourth

SPARTA – Marshfield senior Molly Field shot a 10-over par 82 to win the individual title and help push the Tigers to a fourth-place finish at the WIAA Division 1 girls golf regional Wednesday at River Run Golf Course.

Field won the individual regional championship by two shots over Stevens Point’s Abbie Ter Maat.

Ana Jensen shot a 91 to finish 10th, Jordyn Fitzgerald was 14th with a 95 and Patty Jo Bloczynski had a 111 to give Marshfield a team total of 379 and hand the Tigers a spot in next Tuesday’s sectional at Lake Wissota Golf Course in Chippewa Falls.

Stevens Point shot a 368 to edge Tomah by one shot and Onalaska by four for the team title.

The top four teams and top three individuals not on those teams qualify for the sectional. The top two teams and three individuals not on those teams will move on to the 2014 WIAA State Girls Golf Championships at University Ridge Golf Club in Verona on Oct. 13-14.
