MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield volleyball team dropped its second-straight match, losing 3-2 to Stevens Point in its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference finale on Thursday at the Boson Company Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School.

Stevens Point won 27-25, 25-20, 24-26, 21-25, 16-14, to finish the WVC season with an 8-4 record. Marshfield ends up 7-5.

The Tigers lost the first two games but fought back to force a fifth game. Even in the loss, Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said she is happy how her team fought back.

“I am so proud of our team for their never-say-die attitude,” Sadowska said. “We have had our bench step up due to injuries both Tuesday and tonight. This is a team that can do some special things in tournaments if we continue to play like we are now.”

Kathryn Nesbitt had a team-high 11 kills, Stephanie Rhodes had eight kills, four blocks and four aces, Ema Fehrenbach added eight kills, Anna Ripp had 36 assists and 17 digs, and Sara Dasler had 31 digs for Marshfield.

Marshfield opens its postseason with a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal at home next Thursday, Oct. 23, against Hudson.
